Bodhran For Sale
Bodhrans are great beginner instruments because they are simpler and quicker to pick up than flutes or fiddles, making this instrument easier for novice players to master.
Beginning bodhran players should seek out instruments with high-grade goat skin. When compared with lemo, kangaroo, and greyhound skin options, goat is the superior choice for real bodhrans.

4. The Bodhran Maker
The Bodhran is an Irish frame drum constructed of circular wooden frame with goatskin head on one side, played by striking it with a stick known as Bodhran Beater, Tipper, or Cipin. This versatile percussion instrument is one of the best-known of traditional Irish musical instruments.
Traditional bodhran skins are traditionally constructed from goatskin; however, sheepskin or synthetic materials may also be employed. More modern versions often feature mechanical tuning features whereby tightening or loosening the skin with a hex key can alter its pitch.
To prevent tears or punctures to a bodhran’s skin, it is imperative that regular conditioning treatments such as applying lanolin, neetsfoot oil or moisturizing hand lotion are performed on it. Furthermore, extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity may damage its integrity; consequently storing it in a cool dry environment is best as extreme changes in either will damage its surface. Bodhrans are notoriously challenging instruments to master; world renowned players like Connor Lyons from The Bonny Men have become globally acclaimed for their playing skills.
