Lambeg

The lambeg is an Ulster-exclusive drum and one of the loudest folk instruments worldwide. With its distinctive tone and rhythms rooted in local culture, its distinct bass pitch sets it apart from similar drums used elsewhere. Commonly painted with images associated with Orange Order members for street parades, drummers typically spend hours beating out marching tunes before the last notes sound out!

Eamon Murray and Christian Hediwtschak designed the EMsig for players who prefer melodic styles with clear top notes and substantial bass notes when required. Ideal for sessions or acoustic playing sessions and available in multiple sizes to fit your preferences and playability preferences – an EMsig is also a fantastic introduction for newcomers to bodhran playing!

Vellum

The Bodhran is at the core of Irish music. A frame drum covered with goat skin that can be struck either with beater sticks or hands, the Bodhran produces both low and high tones that make it ideal for both Celtic music and other world percussion styles.

Once made from animal skins, manufacturing vellum today typically utilizes machine made cellulose fibers which can either be transparent or opaque depending on how they’re treated and the amount of air trapped between their fibers.

Vellum paper is often utilized in luxury book binding, memorial book production and various documents in calligraphy. As it combines delicacy with durability, cutting, scoring and gluing make this material suitable for paper crafting and other creative tasks. Furthermore, its thin and lightweight sheets have textures similar to plastic or frosted glass making them durable enough for kitchen use or gift wrap applications.
